Loading... Please wait...Sesame is very popular carrier oil in Ayurvedic recipes. Rich in calcium, vitamins B & E, iron and zinc. Farida Irani notes in her book “The Magic of Ayurveda Aromatherapy” that sesame is the oil used in Shirodhara treatments, the Indian head massage treatment where warmed oil is poured gently over the forehead to relax. Sesame “pacifies and alleviates Vata, increases Pitta/Kapha,” (Irani). Other uses include; the base oil for nasal oils, massage oil for A.D.D., detox wraps, for stress, insomnia and polyps in the nose.
